The Church of the Holy Sepulcher is known as a sacred site with a notable history. Located in Jerusalem, many millions believe the Church of the Holy Sepulcher rests on the site where Jesus was crucified and, amazingly, the place where he was buried. The site encompasses the area known by the ancient name, Golgotha. We read in the Gospels: “When they reached the place called Golgotha, which means the Skull...there they crucified him...” (Matthew 27:33-35). The Sepulcher is where the Jesus’ body was laid after it was taken down from the cross. Scripture notes: “So Joseph took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in a clean linen sheet, and laid it in his own new tomb...” (Matthew 27:59-60).
